My sculpture has ranged from surrealistic, hand-built “machinal remains” in decay to highly accurate, small-scale constructed architectural landscapes.
Being inspired by the stuff used, re-used and cast away, I have recently been building labyrinthian compositions from small-scaled milled-lumber and various other elements regularly present at construction sites. The work is designed organically, emphasizing pathways, the spaces between and the skeletal make-up inherent in building.
I’m interested in how the acts of building bring together in one space what is to come, what has been left behind, and the fluid space that is present in-between. From this process, interesting shapes, forms and stories develop into complex sculptures and environments.
